They were represented before the Court by Mr   J.   Špirko, a   lawyer practising in Košice. The Government of the Slovak Republic (“the Government”) were represented by their Agent, Ms M. Pirošíková. The applicants complained under Article 6 § 1 of the Convention about the length of their civil proceedings. On 15 October 2012 and 12 November 2012 the Court received friendly settlement declarations signed by the parties under which the applicants agreed to waive any further claims against Slovakia in respect of the facts giving rise to this application against an undertaking by the Government to pay: 2,050 euros to each of the applicants listed in the appendix under points 1 to 13 and 16, 3,050 euros to each of those listed under points 14 and 15, 750 euros to each of those listed under points 17 to 19, 550 euros to each of the applicants listed under points 20 to 22   and 400 euros to each of those listed under points 23 to 28. These sums are to cover any pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage as well as costs and expenses, they will be free of any taxes that may be applicable and they will be payable within three months from the date of notification of the decision taken by the Court. In the event of failure to pay these sums within the said three-month period, the Government undertook to pay simple interest on them, from the expiry of that period until settlement, at a rate equal to the marginal lending rate of the European Central Bank during the default period plus three percentage points. The payment will constitute the final resolution of the case. THE LAW The Court takes note of the friendly settlement reached between the parties. It is satisfied that the settlement is based on respect for human rights as defined in the Convention and its Protocols and finds no reasons to justify a continued examination of the application. In view of the above, it is appropriate to strike the case out of the list. For these reasons, the Court unanimously Decides to strike the application out of its list of cases in accordance with Article 39 of the Convention.   Marialena Tsirli   Luis López Guerra   Deputy Registrar   President   Appendix       Ms Helena Vargová was born in 1932 and lives in Čaňa;     Ms Marta Vargová was born in 1965 and lives in Čaňa;     Ms Margita Eliášová was born in 1966 and lives in Čaňa;     Mr Imrich Jesenský was born in 1948 and lives in Kokšov Bakša;     Mr Peter Jesenský was born in 1950 and lives in Kokšov Bakša;     Mr Pavol Jesenský was born in 1954 and lives in Kokšov Bakša;     Mr František Jesenský was born in 1942 and lives in Kokšov Bakša;     Ms Mária Jalčová was born in 1930 and lives in Košice;     Ms Margita Semanová was born in 1957 and lives in Košice; Ms Alžbeta Bačová was born in 1935 and lives in Geča; Ms Helena Eliášová was born in 1946 and lives in Valaliky; Mr Ján Jesenský was born in 1944 and lives in Ilava; Ms Angela Pachingerová was born in 1952 and lives in Čižatice; Ms Alžbeta Ružičková was born in 1940 and lives in Košice; Ms Helena Lešková was born in 1938 and lives in Valaliky; Ms Helena Funtaliová was born in 1957 and lives in Čaňa; Ms Jolana Mereďová was born in 1957 and lives in Čaňa; Ms Magdaléna Bittová was born in 1952 and lives in Čaňa; Mr Ján Varga was born in 1949 and lives in Čaňa; Mr Roman Zelinka was born in 1966 and lives in Moravská Nová Ves,   Czech Republic; Mr Oldřich Zelinka was born in 1965 and lives in Moravská Nová Ves,   Czech Republic; Ms Marta Jurkovičová was born in 1969 and lives in Podivín, Czech   Republic; Ms Jarmila Šiňanská was born in 1957 and lives in Košice; Mr Juraj Polomský was born in 1958 and lives in Košice; Ms Helena Polomská was born in 1954 and lives in Košice; Mr Jozef Polomský was born in 1956 and lives in Košice; Ms Nataša Taššiková was born in 1961 and lives in Košice; Ms Katarína Bodonová was born in 1966 and lives in Košice.  Citations
