The Russian Government (“the Government”) were represented by Mr   G. Matyushkin, Representative of the Russian Federation at the European Court of Human Rights. The applicant complained, inter alia , under Article 3 of the Convention about the conditions of his detention. On 30   August 2010 the application was communicated for observations to the Government who were invited to submit them by 17   January 2011. On 20   December 2010 the applicant informed the Court, without giving any reason, that he no longer wished to pursue his application. THE LAW In the light of the foregoing, and in the absence of any special circumstances regarding respect for the rights guaranteed by the Convention or its Protocols, the Court, in accordance with Article 37 § 1 (a) of the Convention, considers that it is no longer justified to continue the examination of the application. Accordingly, the case should be struck out of the list.
