The applicant was represented before the Court by Ms I. Khrunova, a lawyer practising in Kazan. The applicant’s complaints under Articles 10 and 5 § 4 of the Convention concerning, respectively, an allegedly disproportionate interference with his freedom of expression and the length of the appeal proceedings against the detention order of 10 November 2015 and its extensions of 4 and 24   December 2015 were communicated to the Russian Government (“the Government”). On 23   August 2019 the applicant informed the Registry that he would like to withdraw the application to the Court as he had lost interest in pursuing it. THE LAW In the light of the foregoing, the Court concludes that the applicant may be regarded as no longer wishing to pursue the application (Article   37   §   1   (a) of the Convention). Furthermore, in accordance with Article   37   §   1 in fine , the Court finds no special circumstances regarding respect for human rights as defined in the Convention and the Protocols thereto which require the continued examination of the application. Accordingly, the case should be struck out of the list. For these reasons, the Court, unanimously, Decides to strike the application out of its list of cases. Done in English and notified in writing on 24 September 2020.   Liv Tigerstedt   Alena Poláčková   Acting Deputy Registrar   President  Citations
