The applicant was represented by Ms D.S. Kiss, a lawyer practising in Budapest. The applicant’s complaint under Article 5 § 3 of the Convention concerning the excessive length of pre-trial detention was communicated to the Hungarian Government (“the Government”). THE LAW Complaint under Article 5 § 3 of the Convention (excessive length of pre ‑ trial detention) In the present application, having examined all the material before it, the Court considers that for the reasons stated below, this complaint is inadmissible. In particular, the Court notes that, although the applicant was detained for roughly one year and eight months (see appended table), the national authorities advanced relevant and sufficient reasons for the detention of the applicant, notably fear of his absconding (the applicant, wanted for aggravated robbery, had been apprehended abroad), of collusion (he had exerted pressure on a witness) and repetition of crime (the offence in question had been committed while other prosecutions were ongoing against the applicant). In light of these elements, the measure in question was justified and did not exceed a reasonable duration. In view of the above, the Court finds that this complaint is manifestly ill ‑ founded and must be rejected in accordance with Article   35   §§   3 and   4 of the Convention. For these reasons, the Court, unanimously, Declares the application inadmissible. Done in English and notified in writing on 21 January 2021.   Liv Tigerstedt   Krzysztof Wojtyczek   Acting Deputy Registrar   President   APPENDIX Application raising complaints under Article 5 § 3 of the Convention (excessive length of pre-trial detention) Application no.
