The applicant was represented by Ms R. Lester, a lawyer practising in London at Axiom Stone Ltd. The applicant’s complaints under Article 6 of the Convention concerning the Convention compatibility of the State Immunity Act 1978 were communicated to the United Kingdom Government (“the Government”). On 29 April 2021 both the applicant and the Government wrote to the Court to confirm that the case had settled on the following terms: The Government shall pay £10,000 to the applicant, Mr Ahmed. The payment set out in term (i) shall be made within three months from the date that the Government are notified by the Court that this case is struck out of the list. The Government shall make their best endeavours to make payment within one month. The payment includes any tax that may be due on the amount. In the event of failure to make the payment within the said three-month period, the Government shall pay simple interest on it from expiry of that period until settlement, at a rate equal to the marginal lending rate of the European Central Bank during that period plus three percentage points. The Government make no admission of liability. These terms constitute the final resolution of the case. THE LAW The Court takes note of the friendly settlement reached between the parties. It is satisfied that the settlement is based on respect for human rights as defined in the Convention and the Protocols thereto and finds no reasons to justify a continued examination of the application. In view of the above, it is appropriate to strike the case out of the list. For these reasons, the Court, unanimously, Decides to strike the application out of its list of cases in accordance with Article   39 of the Convention. Done in English and notified in writing on 8 July 2021.   {signature_p_2}   Viktoriya Maradudina   Armen Harutyunyan   Acting Deputy Registrar   President APPENDIX Application raising complaints under Article 6 of the Convention Application no.
