The applicant’s complaints under Article 3 of the Convention concerning inadequate conditions of detention were communicated to the Romanian Government, who submitted observations on the admissibility and merits. On 8 July 2020 these observations were forwarded to the applicant, who was invited to submit observations in reply. On 8 September 2020 the letter returned to the Court with the mention: “recipient deceased”. On 10 December 2020 the Registry sent a letter to the applicant’s address asking whether there was a person who wished to pursue the proceedings on the behalf of the late applicant. No reply to this letter has been received by the Court. THE LAW In the light of the foregoing, the Court concludes that it is no longer justified to continue the examination of the application within the meaning of Article 37 § 1 (c) of the Convention. Accordingly, the case should be struck out of the list. For these reasons, the Court, unanimously, Decides to strike the application out of its list of cases.
