Its formatting and structure may therefore differ from the Case-Law Information Note summaries.] I.   ARTICLE 6 § 1 OF THE CONVENTION ("reasonable time") A.   Period to be considered Starting-point: date of order to pay. Close: date when judgment of Court of Appeal became final. Result: slightly more than four years and five months. B.   Relevant criteria Reasonableness of length of proceedings: to be assessed in light of circumstances of case and criteria laid down in Court's case-law. Case not especially complex despite intervention of third party. Excessive workload of trial court did not justify period of nearly two years between close of investigative stage and hearing of case. Conclusion : violation (unanimously). II.   ARTICLE 50 OF THE CONVENTION Damage and costs incurred before domestic court: no causal link with the violation found. Costs referable to Court's proceedings, in which the applicant took no part: no figure specified for claim.
