In May 1992 the applicant brought an action in damages for loss sustained in a road-traffic accident. In 1996 a court of first instance awarded him part of his claim. The applicant appealed to the Lisbon Court of Appeal, which delivered its decision in February 1998. The outcome of the appeal is not known.
