France - 38783/97 Judgment 21.3.2000 [Section III] Article 6 Civil proceedings Article 6-1 Reasonable time Length of civil proceedings: violation The case concerns the length of civil proceedings brought against the applicants in August 1994. The proceedings ended in October 1997 and therefore lasted 15 years, one month and eight days. Conclusion : violation (unanimously). Article 41: The Court awarded each of the two applicants 30,000 francs (FRF) in respect of non-pecuniary damage.
