It is open to students of law and political science from 25 countries. The topic of debate this year was new technologies in secondary schools.   The 16 teams selected, following the written stage of the competition (which entailed drafting a memorial), argued their case on Monday 7 April before a mock court made up of academics, judicial officers and officials from the European Court. The final was held in the Court’s hearing room, in front of a panel of prominent figures (judges of the Court, academics).   After a two-year break the René Cassin competition has resumed this year with a new advisory board and in partnership with Robert Schuman University and the International Human Rights Institute in Strasbourg.   Further information about the competition, including a list of the semi ‑ finalists, can be found on the Internet site: www.concourscassin.eu     *** Further information about the Court can be found on its Internet site http://www.echr.coe.int ).
