Holding currently the post of Vice-President of the University of Cologne, she has been a professor of international and constitutional law since 2002. She previously worked as a legal researcher and was a legal advisor to the Council of Europe in 2001-2002. Ms Nussberger will replace Ms Renate Jaeger on 1 January 2011.   Mr De Gaetano was born in 1952. A Doctor of Laws, he has been Malta’s Chief Justice, President of the Constitutional Court, of the Court of Appeal and of the Court of Criminal Appeal since 2002. Mr De Gaetano will replace Mr Giovanni Bonello no later than 3 months after his election on 22 June 2010.   Judges are elected by PACE from a list of three candidates nominated by each State which has ratified the European Convention on Human Rights.   ***   This press release is a document produced by the Registry.
