The facts of the case, as submitted by the applicants, may be summarised as follows: On 10 January 1997, two private persons lodged an action for recovery of property and land book registration against the first applicant. The case   was registered with Braşov District Court. On 27   June   1997, the second   applicant became a party to the proceedings. By a judgement of 1   November   2002, the Braşov District Court partially allowed the private   persons’ claim and the applicants’ counter claim. All parties appealed. By a judgement of 5   July   2005, the Braşov County Court reversed in part the judgement of 1   November   2002. All parties lodged an appeal on points of law ( recurs ), which was dismissed by a final judgement rendered by the Braşov Court of Appeal on 1   March   2006. The litigation lasted for 9   years in respect of the first applicant and for 8   years and 8   months in respect of the second applicant. COMPLAINTS The applicants complain under Article 6 § 1 of the Convention about the length of the civil proceeding and under Article   1 of Protocol No.   1 about deprivation of property as a result of the outcome of the litigation.
