GREECE   Wednesday, 14 June 2000 at 9 a.m.     The applicants   The case concerns an application brought by the former King of Greece, his sister, the Princess Irene, and his aunt, the Princess Ekaterini. The first applicant lives in London, the second in Madrid and the third in Buckinghamshire.   Summary of the facts   The case concerns the ownership status of the Greek Royal property. The applicants’ complaints arise out of Law No. 2215/1994 which was passed by the Greek State on 16 April 1994 and came into force on 11 May 1994. By virtue of Article 2 of this Law, the Greek State became the owner of the applicants’ moveable and immovable property. There is no provision for compensation in this Law. On 25 June 1997 the Supreme Special Court held that Law No.   2215/1994 is constitutional, which renders ineffective any further attempt by the applicants to seek judicial protection of their property rights.   Complaints   The applicants complain that their right to the peaceful enjoyment of their possessions and their right not to be subjected to discrimination in this respect guaranteed under Articles 1 of Protocol No. 1 and 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights have been violated.   Procedure   The application was lodged with the European Commission of Human Rights on 21 October 1994. Having declared the application partly admissible, the Commission adopted a report on 21   October 1999 in which it expressed the unanimous opinion that there had been a violation of Article   1 of Protocol No. 1 and that that it was not necessary to examine whether there had been a violation of Article 14 of the Convention taken together with Article 1 of Protocol No.   1. It referred the case to the Court on 30 October 1999. Composition of the Court   The case will be heard by the Grand Chamber composed as follows:   Luzius Wildhaber (Swiss), President , Elisabeth Palm (Swedish), Jean-Paul Costa (French), Luigi Ferrari Bravo [1] (Italian), Gaukur Jörundsson (Icelandic), Lucius Caflisch [2] (Swiss), Ireneu Cabral Barreto (Portuguese), Willi Fuhrmann (Austrian), Karel Jungwiert (Czech), Boštjan Zupančič (Slovenian), Nina Vajić (Croatian), Matti Pellonpää (Finnish), Margarita Tsatsa-Nikolovska (FYROMacedonia), Tudor Panţîru (Moldovan), Egils Levits (Latvian), Kristaq Traja (Albanian), Judges , Georgios Koumantos (Greek), ad hoc Judge , John Hedigan (Irish), Wilhelmina Thomassen (Dutch), Anatoly Kovler (Russian), Substitute Judges ,   and also Maud de Boer-Buquicchio , Deputy Registrar .   Representatives of the parties   Government:   Phokion Georgakopoulos , Michael Apessos ,Kyriaki Grigoriou , Acting Agents , David Pannick Q.C., Dinah Rose , Dimitrios Tsatsos , Nikolaos Alivizatos , Counsel , Charis Pampoukis , George Katrougalos , Elias Kastanas , Petros Liakouras , Advisers ;   Applicants:   Lord Lester , QC, John Bravos , Monica Carss-Frisk, Nathene Arnaoutis ,   Apostolos Georgiades , Angeliki Georgiades, Counsel .   The Former King of Greece and his family will also attend the hearing.   After the hearing the Court will begin its deliberations, which are held in private. Judgment will be delivered at a later date.   Registry of the European Court of Human Rights F – 67075 Strasbourg Cedex Contacts:   Roderick Liddell (telephone: (0)3 88 41 24 92)   Emma Hellyer (telephone: (0)3 90 21 42 15) Fax: (0)3 88 41 27 91   The European Court of Human Rights was set up in Strasbourg in 1959 to deal with alleged violations of the 1950 European Convention on Human Rights.
