She has been a judge at the Constitutional Court of Armenia since 1996 and lectures in human rights at Yerevan State University. Mrs Gyulumyan has been President of the Association of Judges of Armenia since 1997.   ● Mr Khanlar Hajiyev , who was born in 1956, was elected judge in respect of Azerbaijan . He has been President of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan since 1998. From 1993 to 1998 Mr Hajiyev was President of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan. In 2001 he was a member of the European Commission for Democracy through Law of the Council of Europe (Venice Commission).   ● Mrs Elisabet Fura-Sandström , who was born in 1954, was elected judge in respect of Sweden . She is a lawyer and member of the Swedish Bar Association. Since 1979 she has been lecturing at, among other places, the Law Faculties of Stockholm and Uppsala Universities. She has acted as legal expert on several parliamentary committees and was a member of the Commission on Human Rights of the Swedish Bar Association in 2001.   The terms of office of Mrs Gyulumyan and Mr Hajiyev, who are the first judges from their countries, will expire on 31 October 2007. On 1 November 1998 a full-time Court was established, replacing the original two-tier system of a part-time Commission and Court.
