The applicant Gevher Demirel is the mother of Hüseyin Demirel who died on 15 April 2001. (Her son is one of the subjects of the events described below under the denomination of “applicants”.

  Particular circumstances of the case     On 31 December 1990, the applicant’s wife, Barbara Ross, was hit by a speeding car as she was crossing a road in Glyfada, Athens and died.

He died in 2000. 8.

    On 29 July 2011 the applicant’s 17-year old son died in the Netherlands. His body was scheduled to be transported home on 1 August 2011.

During this operation, many officers died, and the sergeant in command of the post was captured. Many of the soldiers fled to other villages.

On 24   June 2012 the first applicant died. On 28   October 2013 the second applicant lodged a request to pursue the application before the Court on the first applicant’s behalf.

    The complaints by Ms Antonina Vladimirovna Minina On 9   June 2016 the Government informed the Registry that on 13   April 2012 Ms Antonina Vladimirovna Minina had died.

The latter had died before the application had been lodged by the first applicant.

The Turkish Government denied that the applicants were taken into captivity by Turkish forces and said that they had died in action during the conflict.

    The applicant's maternal grandmother died on 5 December 1983.

The applicant in application no. 9367/17 died on 18 April 2018.

    In a further letter of 25 September 2012 the applicant’s representative informed the Court that on 5 September 2012 the applicant had died and that Ms V. Pavlova and Ms L.

On 2 February 2004 the applicant’s son, Mr Grzegorz Ostafijczuk, informed the Court’s Registry that the applicant had died on 11   November   2003.
