On 20 December 2003 police officer S. died in a traffic accident.

  Costel-Cornel Calinciuc, the applicant in application no. 7791/16, had died in 2017.

On 1 October 2019 the Government submitted observations in respect of the case, wherein it informed the Court that the applicant had died on 14   November   2013.

The applicant’s wife died on 11 February 2001. The applicant alleged that on 21 April 2001 he applied for widows’ benefits. The Government contested the above date.

The autopsy concluded that Y.C. had died of dehydration, combined with the fact that he had been a carrier of sickle cell trait, a fact of which he had been unaware.

    On 11 October 2017 the Government submitted to the Court their observations on the admissibility and merits of the application, in which they informed the Court that the applicant had died
