In the applicant’s view, this discrepancy proved that his statement of 17 October 1995 had been extorted from him.

They took him out of the cell and stroke him with a truncheon on a running sore on his posterior. The pain was so strong that the applicant fell down on his knees.

  He alleges that after his arrest, five policemen ill-treated him. They banged his head on the floor and kicked him.

The authorities told him that the applicant had waived his right to a lawyer and showed him the applicant’s waiver written on the same day.
