Neither couple were married but had lived together in excess of 5 years in the Catalonia region, with the first applicant expecting her partner’s child when he died.

On 1 December 2008 the applicant's mother died.

He died on 11 August 2014. His wife, Ms Marinela Codrean, made a request to pursue the application on his behalf. They were represented before the Court by Mr A.

On 20 July 2007 Ms Koltakova died. Her daughter, Ms Karpova, born in 1953 and living in Voronezh, expressed the intention to continue the proceedings before the Court.

One of the applicants (see appended table below) died after the institution of the proceedings before the Court.

The Albanian Government asked for the European Court of Human Rights’ judgment in this case (12 December 2006) to be revised because the applicant died on 10 November 2006.   Dybeku v.
